Aisha Babangida’s Passion For Nigerian Mothers

No one can fathom the amount of love that a mother has for her children and family, not even the mother because there’s no measure for a mother’s love. History was made more than ever before days back in Abuja when Hajia Aisha Babangida, beloved daughter of late First Lady, Maryam Babangida, brought together a broad spectrum of former and present first ladies among others under one umbrella of Women Network Alliance, WNA, to jaw-jaw on the essence of motherhood in nation building. Aisha Babangida, the Chief Convener, said the forum was held “principally in remembrance to my late mother HE Maryam Babangida. Secondly, it was to share her values in talking about yesterday so as to develop tomorrow, having come understand that without knowing the past we can’t build the future, and the central idea was to present the former First Ladies from 1960-2015 to the audience to share their experiences of life during the war, etc, and provide advices, and talk about their fondest memories of my mother. We learnt, we were mentored, guided, cautioned, and entertained by our Mothers and I am greatly humbled and proud to have hosted these Mothers,” she enthused. 

The initiative, which was powered by the Better Life Program for the African Rural Woman, had in attendance former First Ladies from 1960 to date, with the current First Lady, Aisha Buhari as the Chief Host. They included but not limited to HEs Hajia Turai Yar’adua, Patience Jonathan, etc. not forgetting a handful of former second ladies, ably led by the incumbent second lady, HE Dolapo Osinbajo, who all shared their fond memories of the major issue of discussion, which centered largely on motherhood and nation-building. The occasion was really a moment to relish by all who attended, and the take-home after the event was breath-taking.
