Former Chelsea and Arsenal shot-stopper Petr Cech has surprised the ice hockey world by signing on loan for Belfast Giants.
The 41-year-old retired from professional football in 2019 and, since then, he has been plying his trade for ice hockey clubs - most recently playing as a goaltender for Oxford City Stars.
The four-time Premier League champion and one-time Champions League winner has made over 600 senior appearances during a memorable career in net.
The ex-Czech Republic international, who appeared in a charity ice hockey game in Belfast earlier this year, will provide temporary netminding cover for the Northern Irish club.

Adam Keefe, head coach of the Belfast Giants, said: "We're very appreciative of the support of both the Oxford City Stars and Petr himself. Petr is a highly decorated athlete, who knows what it takes to perform at the highest level, so his support during this loan period will be invaluable."
